When we get older, reaching 40 years old and above, our bodies start to approach menopause because the estrogen hormone, which is important for women, decreases. This causes our internal health to change according to our age, including our skin health.

“Our skin is part of the reflection we see when we look in the mirror, and it’s not exempt from the changes that menopause brings,” says board-certified dermatologist Kelly Reed, MD, of โปรโมชั่นพิเศษจาก UFABET สมัครตอนนี้ รับโบนัสทันที Westlake Dermatology in Austin.

How does menopause affect your skin?

Reed explains that menopause triggers a drop in estrogen levels, which can lead to skin changes like:

  • Decreased collagen production
  • Fine lines and wrinkles increase
  • Thinning and sagging skin
  • Dry skin
  • acne
  • Sun spots
  • Increased facial hair
  • Skin symptoms

A reliable 2013 study found that certain types of collagen can decrease by as much as 30 percent in the first five years after menopause begins.

While a reliable 2019 study surveyed 88 men and women about their facial shape, it was found that postmenopausal women’s faces appear to age more rapidly than men’s, with sagging skin being one of the most common signs of facial aging.

There are also several studies that mention an increase in acne during and after menopause, which is partly due to hormonal changes and may also contribute to dry skin.

Including facial hair problems. Although thinning hair on the scalp is often a sign of aging, facial hair can increase during menopause.
